Not just flying!

Hey hey! For those of you who thought I just fly airplanes, check it out. I play piano and trumpet, but mostly trumpet.... piano is a work in progress.

Why do you care? I don't know - you probably don't care.

Hot Weather
It's been real hot lately here in Iowa - mid to upper 90s with humidity. Today I flew the Taylorcraft with Lee Bowden as well as took a group of farmers out to check crops. It's not a bad gig - pretty good flying, but very hot.

Watch the density altitude on days like these... whew.

Sometimes...

Sometimes things happen for a reason. I have just recently learned this. Certain events have transpired that will no-doubt mean clearer skies for me. Oh, I can't provide specifics because that would be improper, but just know that as a 21 year-old, I continue to learn about people, life, and dealing with both.

It's funny, though, to be 21 years old and more mature than some of the people I deal with who are older than myself.

Oh well! To each their own. Fly safe, and have fun.

What's going on?

It has been a busy week. There have been spray planes at the airport non-stop for the past week. We seem to pump fuel (JET-A) non-stop from about 6am until dusk... they have gone away briefly now and will probably return in a week or so it seems. It is fun to have them around, but it is tiring.

Odds 'n Ends
Amber just finished up a run with "Children of Eden" in the Pass the Hat Players in Manchester. It was a good show and it only rained once on us outside.

John Moes recently passed his Private Pilot check ride. Congratulations to him. It was neat to see that airplane go from being without an engine, to taking someone for a check ride.

In addition to working this summer, I am taking statistics for college, which is the worst class I've taken thus far. I think many people would agree with me here.

I am continuing to work on things for AviationGeek.com when I find the time. Lately it has been crazy and I haven't had time to do a thing with those projects.

Until next time,

Field of Dreams

The group appears out of the corn at the Field of Dreams on a partially cloudy/somewhat rainy Sunday afternoon.

Casey the Pitcher gets ready to deliver the triple-slider to the unsuspecting batter.

Kyle the Pitcher lets go of a nasty pitch hit only by the luckiest of batters.

Amber just pitches.

Hey - it's a neat place. I don't think anyone can deny that. Posted by Picasa

"If"

"If" by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
